Navigating Urn Sizes: A Technical Guide for Families
Choosing an urn is not just about the design; it is about ensuring the vessel is technically compatible with the remains. In Australia, most crematoriums return ashes in standard PVC containers, and your urn must be designed to accommodate these specific dimensions.
The Rapt in Memories Sizing Guide
Our photo-wrapped urns are engineered to meet specific volumetric needs:
• Large/Companion (7.186 Liters): Specifically designed to fit a standard large Australian PVC container (4.34L). It also serves as a companion urn for two sets of ashes if they are transferred into our provided clip-seal bags.
• Medium (3.168 Liters): Crafted to hold a standard small PVC container (1.72L) or the full ashes of an average-sized adult when used without the PVC box.
• Small (1.546 Liters): Ideal for approximately one-quarter of an adult's ashes, or for memorialising an infant or child up to age six.
• Keepsake (0.549 Liters): Designed for sharing small portions of remains among family members or for a baby up to 40 weeks gestation.
How to Place Ashes in Our Urns
Our "Inversion-and-Slide" method is designed for dignity and ease. Simply invert the urn, remove the four structural screws from the base, and slide the PVC container into place. This eliminates the need for families to handle the ashes directly, providing peace of mind during a difficult time. This method only applies for our Large and Medium cremation urn.
